Mick Jenkins isn’t so “Carefree” on newest single before seven-song project

Chicago’s Mick Jenkins dropped “Carefree,” a super laid back single off his upcoming seven-song project, The Circus, which he announced will be coming Jan. 10.

Produced by Black Milk, a well-respected artist and producer from Detroit, Mick voices his disinterest in being bothered by anyone who’s trying to throw off his vibes, including bad friends and cops. He raps, “They player hate, I’m on my shit / pulled me over ’bout my whip like, “How you get it?”/ bitch, I bought it, took for my ticket for the tints.”

The Circus will be Mick’s first project since Pieces of a Man came in fall 2018. Mick has stayed busy with collaborations in the meantime, though, and most recently appeared on KAYTRANADA’s “Gray Area,” a standout track off the Montreal producer’s full-length album, BUBBA.

Stream “Carefree” on Spotify, Apple, or Tidal.
