Cole Bennett, founder of Lyrical Lemonade, showcased his 2019 music video reel and dedicated it to his fellow Chicagoan, the late Juice WRLD, a dear friend and frequent collaborator.
It was a huge year for the Lyrical Lemonade crew as they published 29 music videos, hosted the second annual Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash festival in Chicago, launched an actual lemonade drink (quite tasty) and moved into a new office space. Looking back on their 2019 portfolio, some of my favorite videos are for Ski Mask’s “Faucet Failure,” YNW Melly’s “Mixed Personalities (feat. Kanye West)” and Lil Tecca’s “Ransom.”
During an impromptu interview I saw between Cole and Kerwin Frost in New York almost a year ago, Cole said he received a call from Kanye in the middle of the night less than 48 hours before the “Mixed Personalities” shoot requesting that they change the set location. This forced Cole and the production team to swiftly move hundreds of feet of turf and other props to a new warehouse, and you can see the final result in the video below.
