Drake gears up for “War” on new chune produced by AXL Beats

To kick off the week, Drake released “War” with an accompanying video directed by the mastermind behind OVO’s visual style, Theo Skudra. The 3-minute video shows Drake and his crew making the most of a winter trip up in the mountains, complete with night skiing, snowmobiles, a raging bonfire and a cozy cottage party. According to the producer of “War,” London’s AXL Beats, the song is a soft tempo mix of drill, grime and trap styles. Drake is clearly trying to build off the UK accent and energy he recently experimented with on “Behind Barz,” which was included as a bonus track on the 2019 Top Boy-inspired album.

Fueling conversation around the video, Drake acknowledged that his team uploaded a new cut after fans spotted Toronto’s ‘chair girl’ in the video as an extra. She went viral in Feb. 2019 (and was later charged with a crime) for throwing a chair off a high-rise apartment balcony.
